Divorce/Ancillary Relief/Matrimonial Agreement

The breakdown of a marriage is always stressful. We will guide you through the divorce process and the financial aspects.

Family Law

Children/Residence/Contact/Social Services Involvement

We can assist with the contact arrangements between a parent and the child/children of the family.  Itis best if both parents work together to come to an agreement, with the children’s best interests always at the forefront. If an agreement cannot be reached in relation to contact arrangements then we can offer assistance either through advice or if required, by making an application to the Court.

The Court at all times will place the children at the centre of the proceedings and will make decisions based on their best interests. We can also assist you if there are disagreements regarding matters such as what school a child should attend or if one parent is not agreeing to a child obtaining a passport.

Social Services involvement

When Social Services have become involved with your family, you will require guidance and advice about their role and the consequences of their involvement within your family.  We can also attend Social Service meetings with you. If the concerns of Social Services are not resolved or escalate, they may issue Court proceedings to obtain a Care Order which would allow them to share parental responsibility with the parents of the child.  Caroline McConnell of our office can provide you with advice and represent you in these proceedings.  She is a member of the Law Society’s Children Order Panel of Solicitors and is also on the Northern Ireland Guardian ad LitemAgency panel of solicitors which represent children in Care Order proceedings.

Domestic Violence & Non Molestation Orders

Domestic Violence is a serious incident within the family home and can leave the injured party feeling fearful for their safety.   It can be a single incident or repeated incidences of threatening or harassing behaviour by one person to another.  It can take many forms including physical and emotional abuse.  Often urgent action is required to protect the victim and the children of the family. We can provide you with advice about obtaining a Non Molestation Order, which is a type of restraining order.
